Board of Directors

Renuka Shankar

FOUNDER, CEO & CHAIRMAN

Renuka Shankar is in charge of the product strategy of averQ with a vision towards delivering high-value transparency solutions to financial institutions to manage their financial and operational risk. She strives to intently listen and empathize with customer needs, and enjoys building teams to deliver innovative solutions.

She was previously the cofounder & Vice President of Engineering at Certus Software Inc., where she delivered market-leading GRC solutions for Fortune 1000 companies. Prior to Certus, she was part of the early team at Rightworks through its $1B valuation and subsequent merger with i2 Inc. At Rightworks she led product development, technical partnerships, and customer services for both B2B marketplaces and enterprise clients. Her early career was in applied research in Human Computer Interactions at NASA Ames Center and technology transfer programs to leading aerospace companies.

She has an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Vanderbilt University and B.E. from Anna University, India

Sridar Iyengar

DIRECTOR

Sridar Iyengar has served on the board of averQ since 2008. He is the founder of The Sounding Board, an initiative providing growth-ready Indian companies access to advisors at the highest level. He was previously with KPMG in the UK, India, and US; holding senior positions in various disciplines. He was on the founding team of KPMG in India and the Chairman and CEO of KPMG’s India operations from 1997-2000.

Since his retirement from KPMG, he divides his time between his corporate Board/Advisory commitments and his involvement with social development and civil society issues in India. He serves on the boards of many Indian and foreign companies including: Dr. Reddy Laboratories, The Murugappa Group, Rediff.com, Mahindra Holidays, and on the Advisory Board of Janaagraha. Additionally, he serves on the boards of nonprofits such as the American India Foundation, where he chairs the AIF Clinton Fellowship for Service in India. He was previously on the Boards of Infosys and ICICI Bank. He was a founding charter member of TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs) and a president of its Global organization as well as the Silicon Valley and Mumbai chapters.

Sridar graduated with B.Com (Hons) from the University of Calcutta and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Dr. Janaki Akella

DIRECTOR

Dr. Akella has served as COO, Digital Transformations at Google LLC since 2017. A renowned business leader, her problem-solving skills address challenges arising from new technologies and new business models. A trusted advisor and coach for executives across a number of business functions and disciplines, Dr. Akella has a reputation for understanding complex technical issues.

From 1999 to 2016, Dr. Akella served in various positions with McKinsey & Company, including as a Principal. While at McKinsey, Dr. Akella led or contributed to over 100 consulting engagements in North America, Europe, Asia and Latin America with multiple teams and clients and was the first woman partner elected globally in the Business Technology Office. 

Dr. Akella earned a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, where she also was a Post-Doctoral Fellow. Dr. Akella earned a M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Boston University and a Bachelor of Engineering degree with Honors and Distinction from the College of Engineering in Guindy, India.

Jeff Brandeis

Head of Sales,
Americas

Jeff started his career with 5 years working in CPA firms. During this time he discovered the power of process and began moving in a sales direction. He subsequently managed, trained and was responsible for the development and growth of several businesses, including managing partnerships and international sales. Jeff grew and produced significant revenue increases, consistently surpassing quota and EBITA. As former Vice President of Sales for TeamMate, Jeff’s understanding of the internal audit space and knowledge of the financial services industry combined with his accounting background has provided him a unique perspective within the Auditing community. 

 

Jeff graduated with his Masters in Taxation from Long Island University (C.W.Post) NY and has his BBA in Accounting from Baruch College.

 

Stephanie Woodruff

Stephanie Woodruff

Head of Business Development,
Public Sector

Ms. Woodruff has 35 years of experience in Municipalities, Big 4 Professional Services, F500 Global Enterprises, and Technology Start-Ups. Ms. Woodruff started her career at Cargill, Incorporated in Worldwide Audit in various management positions, then she spent several years launching and heading up several Enterprise Risk Management practices at Deloitte LLP, Resources Connection, Inc., and Accretive Solutions, Inc.  

Ms. Woodruff also served as Vice Chair Audit Committee, City of Minneapolis from 2009-2013, was a former Mayoral Candidate in Minneapolis in 2013, and also served as the Chair Audit Committee, City of Santa Fe from 2018-2021. She was one of AverQ’s early employees and investors, and had served as the Chief Revenue Officer, and now heads up AverQ’s Business Development efforts for the Public Sector Division

Bhaskar Shenoy

DIRECTOR PRODUCT MANAGEMENT

Bhaskar Shenoy has been with averQ as a Senior Deployment Manager for the past 5 years, before that he was working towards his PhD at Texas A&M University in Mathematical Modelling of Control Systems. He has deployed averQ at many Banks, General Insurance Firms, Securities Traders and Audit Firms, with a particular focus on integrating Risk, Compliance and Audit Functions at Financial Services organizations. HIs Focus these days is towards productivity and performance improvements using Automation and AI.

Kabir Rao

DIRECTOR PRODUCT LED GROWTH

Kabir Rao has been with averQ since March 2018 as a Senior Deployment Manager at averQ based out of Oakland California. His prior roles include Senior Consultant at Deloitte focusing on enterprise GRC solution deployments and was principal consultant at Streebo Inc. specializing in business intelligence. He also worked earlier at large companies such as GE and Dell Inc. Kabir has a Masters in Management Information Systems from the Mays Business School at Texas A & M University.
